FEHILY's WEEKLY

17th May 2026

GOOD MORNING SPORTSFANS!!

On Sunday Claim Du Brizais ran a good honest race at Ludlow, jumped well and tried her best.

Happy 70th Birthday to Diana Cusack – welcome to team ‘WHISKEYONTHEROCKS’!

Rock Sensation makes her debut for Nick Scholfield at Fontwell.

After studying a catalogue of just over 800 horses, Noel and I head to Doncaster May Sales in an aim to purchase some new recruits for the team.

Date set for Summer walk around the horses on ‘their holidays’ at Hagg Hill.

CLAIM DU BRIZAIS

She ran at Ludlow on Sunday in a 2m4f Mares Handicap Chase with Harry Skelton in the plate. It was a case of so near but so far as the pair ran a blinder to finish a half length 2nd to the consistent Regal Renaissance. With 16L back to the 3rd we can count ourselves slightly unfortunate to have ‘bumped into one’ on the day.

Harry said she jumped well, tried her best and ran a good honest race. Harry could see the winner jumping slightly left, wanted to be on her inner and because Regal Renaissance was idling in front he didn’t want to get upsides until after the last. Pressing any sooner would have helped the winner so Harry delayed his challenge until the approach to the last fence. Unfortunately the winner was too strong after the last but we came away proud of our mare.
When returning to unsaddle Claim Du Brizais had a deep cut on her near fore which Harry was very concerned about. The team on the racecourse said she needed to go to hospital to get the wound flushed out so to stop it getting an infection. Here, she stated in over not and luckily didn’t do any tendon damage and was let home the next day.

Claim Du Brizais will now go to Doncaster Sales on 20th May. She ran 12 times for her owners winning twice (bumper & novice hurdle) and was placed on a further 8 occasions.

OWNERS TO HAGG HILL

Noel is always happy to welcome owners to view their horses on summer holiday. In the past week Noel’s hosted Amanda Sheppard (Casual Observer & Jackie Hobbs), Jane Stevens (Midnight Jukebox), Colin Gittins (Frost Moon & Queenofthejukebox) and Colin and Diana Cusack.

Colin owns Hurricane Pat but for Diana’s 70th birthday he bought 10% in Whiskeyontherocks as a present. Everyone at Noel Fehily Racing wishes Diana ‘all the very best’ with her new mare.

ROCK SENSATION AT FONTWELL

On Thursday Noel and I travelled to the south coast to host the owners of Rock Sensation at Fontwell Park.

Last November she ran a lovely race to finish 4th in a Listed Bumper at Cheltenham so we know the talent is there but since switching codes it’s been a less than smooth ride. On hurdles debut she unshipped Kielan Woods at the second flight, then couldn’t handle the soft ground at Lingfield and subsequently lost some condition at home.

After a spell at Hagg Hill we moved her to Nick Scholfield in the hope of seeing some improvement. Nick hasn’t had her too long but worked hard on her jumping which lacked confidence.

Considering it’s mid May this Mares Maiden was a warm event with plenty of bumper winners lining up. Unfortunately we were put on the back foot at the first hurdle as the leader jumped badly right handed which caused some carnage in behind. Johnny Burke felt this gave her a fright, she was then a bit careful on the first circuit but to her credit warmed to the task.

However a mistake four out again tested her confidence, she was careful over the next couple and the leaders were able to pull away. In finishing 4th she ran better than the bare result but her jumping needs more work. She holds an entry in the Doncaster May Sale next week.

DONCASTER MAY SALES

Next week Noel and I will be flat out at Goffs Doncaster May Sale. It’s a huge catalogue in excess of 800 horses so it will be hard work sifting out the wheat from the chaff. As usual they cannot be any corner cut.

On both Monday and Tuesday we’ll be viewing the long list of pointing recruits who are due to sell on Wednesday. Then on Thursday it’s the ‘Horses In Training’ segment of the sale which is always a key day.

Our aim is to be present to ensure the 8 syndicate horses we’ve entered for sale obtain the very best price for their owners. It’s always sad to see any horse leave the team but each will be have a nice new home with caring staff who will look after them in the future.

The horses and lot numbers are listed below. You can watch live via https://www.goffs.com/sale/UK/Spring-hit-ptp-sale-2026

Noel and I would be delighted if you can join us for a late breakfast of sausages and champagne. This to be followed by a walk around the paddocks to view the horses enjoying their peaceful summer break.

This is an exciting opportunity to not only see your own horses at grass but to also meet some new team members purchased recently. It’s the first chance to see some future syndicate stars up close and personal.

If you and your family would like to attend please message Steph on +44 7361 820394 with your name and all guests names

We kindly ask that all dogs are left at home for the duration of your visit
