MORNING TEAM!!!
On Tuesday we made a debut appearance at Ed Walker’s yard with the owners of Grinanbearit. It was a terrific morning and the weather was great.

ED WALKER’S YARD – GRINANBEARIT
On Tuesday morning Noel and I were delighted to greet many of the owners of our new 2yr Old filly Grinanbearit at Ed Walker’s spectacular yard in Upper Lambourn.
We got lucky with the weather, the filly looked in good condition and “Crossey’s Sausages” were ready for breakfast. The hospitality from all the staff was first class and everyone enjoyed the morning.
Ed’s been impressed with the filly in the early stages of her career. He said “She’s very well, a sweet filly with good temperament. She was a little sweaty, a bit ‘jig joggy’ when first arriving but has now settled in well and proving straight forward. Her work is progressing nicely, she’s doing two canters four times a week but hasn’t yet started real fast work as she’s a little raw and unfurnished. We could get a run in late June but realistically I see her as a 7 furlong type for a Maiden/Novice in July. I’m hoping she’ll be a really nice filly for the second half of the season”.
A very pleasing visit that gave everyone lots of reasons to be cheerful with Grinanbearit for the future. Despite living in Lambourn it’s rare I get up the gallops here and you do forget how beautiful a place it really is.

HELL HOUND AT FFOS LAS
Unfortunately we had to withdraw Hell Hound just an hour before his race due to fast ground. It’s hugely frustrating considering we went there expecting good, good to soft in places and it was good to firm. I feel particularly sorry for those who had travelled to Wales on Tuesday but trainer Neil Mulholland was convinced it was the right decision for the horse.
In the short term there are suitable races in May at Perth, Ffos Las, Uttoxeter and Worcester. As usual we’ll consult with Neil, check the ground and opposition to pick the best option. Having recently won a chase at Southwell we all hope Hell Hound is full of confidence and can be very competitive when we get the right ground.
JULIET NOEL – ROA
It was nice to see Ryan’s Rocket owner Juliet Noel featured in the latest edition of the ROA Magazine. It’s lovely to see owners getting recognition and to know they are enjoying the ride with Noel Fehily Racing. Thank you Juliet.

OWEN BURROWS GALLOPS MORNING
On Wednesday morning Noel and I were pleased to welcome the owners of ASCENDING STAR to Owen Burrow’s first class yard just outside Lambourn.
In 2025 Ascending Star had two juvenile runs finishing third on both occasions but then picked up an injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season. That was bitterly disappointing at the time but in hindsight it was a blessing as he has turned into a lovely 3yr old.
It was pleasing to see him work nicely with a good work horse and one that had run well previously this season. His work impressed the owners, as did our breakfast with Crossey’s Sausages, so we’re all enthusiastic for the what lies ahead.
Owen thinks a race at the end of this month is realistic. Ideally we would want some cut in the ground to run on turf but we can always consider an all weather surface if remaining dry.
It was a lovely morning, the hospitality excellent and so nice to catch up with some of our Punchestown Tour party. There was plenty of banter and good stories coming from that trip. All being well he will make his seasonal debut towards the end of the month.

MOVIDDY
Moviddy went to Huntingdon on Thursday to contest a 3m Handicap Hurdle under regular jockey Jack Hogan. She has been a wonderful servant to owners Judy Wignall, Frank Abbott & Bill Hutchins but her enthusiasm for racing is now on the wane. Jack said Moviddy was travelling well upsides in front until being outjumped with a mile to run at which stage she downed tools.
Bought for £25,000 in April 2022 she ran 26 times in Noel Fehily colours, won 3 races, placed 14 times, gained ‘Black Type’ when third in a Listed Chase at Wincanton and accumulated nearly £58,000 in prize money. Our thanks must go to trainer Noel Williams who has done a terrific job over the last four seasons.
If every horse had a similarly successful career and won more than twice its purchase price we would be delighted. Now is the time for Moviddy to move on to new ownership and therefore she holds a sale entry at Doncaster later this month. With ‘Black Type’ on her CV she could make a lovely brood mare.

AMAZONICA
On Friday I had an early start to meet Amazonica’s owner TONY CHAPMAN at Owen Burrow’s yard. It was a super morning that gave us both optimism for the future.
Amazonica was a big 2-y-o who had to fill into his frame. It was a frustrating time as he had a few niggles which has delayed his debut – however that may have been a blessing in disguise.
He’s now a fine strong looking 3-y-o who is cantering away nicely and pleasing Owen at home. Last autumn his work was of a very good standard so we’re quietly confident he’ll do well when getting to the track.
Directly from Owen’s yard Tony travelled to Ascot Racecourse to have lunch with a group of friends. It was good to meet them again and have some banter at the track.

HELNWEIN AT HAYDOCK
On Saturday Tom Bellamy took the mount on Helnwein in the hugely competitive and valuable Swinton Hurdle at Haydock. Off a 4lb lower mark he ran superbly to finish 2nd in this race in 2025 so we hoped lightning would strike twice.
Early in the race Tom had Helnwein tucked away travelling well in mid division around the inner. The pair crept into the race nicely approaching two out at which point Tom came wider to get a run. Staying on well Helnwein gave generously to run yet another cracker finishing 4th beaten just 4 lengths.
Despite not winning Helnwein’s had a really good season in a tough division off a high mark.
Whether we get another run in we will discuss over the coming days.
