"Queenofthejukebox had a super season in bumpers but we had a really frustrating time in her debut year over hurdles. Hopefully she'll enjoy her summer break, fill the tank and if she does bounce back to top form she'll have a productive time off her mark." Noel Fehily
After winning two bumpers we couldn’t wait to see Queenofthejukebox jump a hurdle, thought she would rank highly in the mares novice division but that wasn’t to be. On debut at Uttoxeter she was beaten at ‘odds on’ and went further backwards at Southwell when fading quickly before two out. A full examination diagnosed a nasty case of ulcers which resulted in nearly two months off the track.
Upon return all roads led to the valuable EBF Mares Handicap Final at Newbury in March. In a big field she was given the most fabulous ride by Sean Bowen as he cut every corner and had Queenofthejukebox in an ideal position turning for home. She was still travelling best of all approaching three out but ‘cut out’ quite quickly and was eventually pulled up before the last flight.
If a bit of ‘Doctor Green’ on her summer break can help solve the problem Queenofthejukebox would certainly be on a workable mark. She’s a lot better than we’ve seen over a hurdle, we can’t wait to get her back to form.
