Malfoy Manor

"Malfoy Manor is a horse lovely big chasing type but things haven't gone his way up to now. Hopefully we'll have some fun this winter.
Dan Skelton - Trainer

Malfoy Manor is a lovely big horse who we rate highly but despite finishing 4th in a Carlisle novice hurdle he had a frustrating 2024-25 season.  On handicap debut at Ayr we hoped he would run well but he ran below expectation and returned less than 100%. Unfortunately we could never get him back firing on all cylinders so the hard decision to stop for the season was made.

He made his chase debut at Fontwell om 7th November under Tristan Durrell where new trainer Dan Skelton expected him to need the run.  Malfoy moved into the race  stylishly four out but then faded away when fitness told.  He then ran a disappointing race at Warwick when jumping badly right handed and dropping away in the last half mile.  It was the same story at Huntingdon (5th Feb) where he again failed to show anything noreworthy.

At home he works far better than his mark but we’re not seeing it on the track – the key is yet to be found.

About the Trainer

Dan Skelton

Dan Skelton has rapidly established himself as one of the leading trainers in National Hunt racing. Based in Warwickshire, Skelton began his career working under Paul Nicholls, where he honed his skills before setting up his own yard in 2013. In a relatively short time, Skelton has made a significant impact on the sport, training multiple winners at the Cheltenham Festival and other major meetings. Known for his sharp strategic approach and excellent race planning, he’s developed a reputation for getting the best out of his horses, particularly in big handicaps. His yard is also noted for its strong team ethic, with his brother Harry Skelton, a top jockey, often partnering their best horses. Skelton’s ability to build a competitive stable so quickly has made him a force in jumps racing.
