His season started superbly with a cosy win in a Lingfield novice where he broke smartly from the stalls and was always holding the rest of the field at bay.  
 
On July 3rd he stepped up to a mile on handicap debut at Sandown under Callum Rodriguez but was far too keen.  The plan was to get a lead but he again broke very smartly to lead and in doing so did far too much in the opening quarter of the race.  He looked in trouble with three to run but kept on gamely to grab 3rd place.
 
Owen dropped him back to seven furlongs (Aug 6th) in an effort to get him to settle better behind a decent gallop. Calum did well from an outside draw to get some cover, the horse settled nicely but also proved one paced at the trip. We stepped back up to a mile at Windsor (Sept 7th) where he again ran well in a competitive heat but was beaten by two better handicapped horses.  For his next outing we would ideally love some cut and the rain is now coming.

Owen Burrows

Owen Burrows is a respected racehorse trainer based in Lambourn, Berkshire. He began his career as a long-time assistant to Sir Michael Stoute before taking out his own training licence in 2016. Initially serving as a private trainer for the Shadwell operation, Burrows has since expanded to train for a broader range of owners.

Burrows has achieved significant success with horses like Hukum, who won the Group 1 Coronation Cup in 2022 and theKing George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2023. Other notable horses include Minzaal, winner of the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup, and Anmaat, who secured the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan. He is known for his patient approach and continues to be a prominent figure in British flat racing.
