As a 2-y-o Amazonica was impressing in his work but was then troubled by low grade lameness behind which prevented him getting to the track. This may have been a blessing in disguise as he was slightly immature so the extra time has done him good.

Thankfully his work this year had been just as promising so it was no great surprise when he won on debut over 10 furlongs at Leicester on July 14th under a good David Probert ride.

Amazonica showed a terrific attitude as he was twice bumped badly but still quickened in the style of a very promising horse. There should be more to come in the second half of the season.

Owen Burrows

Owen Burrows is a respected British racehorse trainer based in Lambourn, Berkshire. He began his career as a long-time assistant to Sir Michael Stoute before taking out his own training licence in 2016. Initially serving as a private trainer for the Shadwell operation, Burrows has since expanded to train for a broader range of owners.

Burrows has achieved significant success with horses like Hukum, who won the Group 1 Coronation Cup in 2022 and the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2023. Other notable horses include Minzaal, winner of the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup, and Anmaat, who secured the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan. He is known for his patient approach and continues to be a prominent figure in British flat racing.
