Ace of Spades

Trained by Dan Skelton

FORM 521-421142-142100 OR – 138

"He had a fantastic year winning at Aintree and Huntingdon to continue his upward curve. He's now learned to race at three miles and gained experience so there could be more to come. We've had Ace since 'Day 1' and it's a pleasure to train him." Dan Skelton

Ace Of Spades had yet another superb season winning two handicap hurdles firstly at Aintree and then a ‘Pertempts Qualifier’ at Huntingdon.  As Dan predicted the step up to three miles brought about more improvement.

Unfortunately this dual success wasn’t missed by the handicapper. Ace Of Spades saw his mark rise from 127 to a peak of 139 so life did become tougher in top class spring handicaps at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals.

Pleasingly Dan thinks there is more to come particularly as Ace has now learned to race properly at three miles. We’re optimistic he can be placed to advantage this winter by the new Champion Trainer.

About the Trainer

Dan Skelton

Dan Skelton has rapidly established himself as one of the leading trainers in National Hunt racing. Based in Warwickshire, Skelton began his career working under Paul Nicholls, where he honed his skills before setting up his own yard in 2013. In a relatively short time, Skelton has made a significant impact on the sport, training multiple winners at the Cheltenham Festival and other major meetings. Known for his sharp strategic approach and excellent race planning, he’s developed a reputation for getting the best out of his horses, particularly in big handicaps. His yard is also noted for its strong team ethic, with his brother Harry Skelton, a top jockey, often partnering their best horses. Skelton’s ability to build a competitive stable so quickly has made him a force in jumps racing.
