Mr Hope Street

We had a difficult time mid season when he got a twinge but the team worked very hard to get him back for Aintree. To see him win a £100k Handicap on Grand National day was really exciting. I've no fixed plan at the moment but I'm hopeful of another good season. It's worth mentioning he's a novice until December 1st so that's an angle we may exploit but we'll also look at the bigger handicaps." Dan Skelton

In November when finishing third at Haydock behind The Jukebox Man and Iroko we knew we had a chaser with some promise. But things don’t always run smoothly as a mid season niggle saw Mr Hope Street off the track for 105 days.

Not to be deterred Dan was the “Man With A Plan” as he had Aintree on Grand National Day as his target for a few months. The cobwebs were blown off at Sandown in March and then Mr Hope Street duly won the £100,000 3m Handicap Chase at Aintree under an inspired Harry Skelton.  It was a great performance by the horse and by all the staff at Dan’s yard.

We feel there is more to come in 2026-27 with this very exciting and lightly raced chaser.

About the Trainer

Dan Skelton

Dan Skelton has rapidly established himself as one of the leading trainers in National Hunt racing. Based in Warwickshire, Skelton began his career working under Paul Nicholls, where he honed his skills before setting up his own yard in 2013. In a relatively short time, Skelton has made a significant impact on the sport, training multiple winners at the Cheltenham Festival and other major meetings. Known for his sharp strategic approach and excellent race planning, he’s developed a reputation for getting the best out of his horses, particularly in big handicaps. His yard is also noted for its strong team ethic, with his brother Harry Skelton, a top jockey, often partnering their best horses.
