"He picked up a shoulder injury after his convincing Ffos Las win which was hugely frustrating as everything was really starting to click. That said he is without question a horse who we are yet to see the best of and the way he jumps gives me encouragement that chasing will see this horse improve. He has size and scope, and as he settles will stay further. Loves soft ground and there is more to come from him." Harry Derham - Trainer

He had a delayed start to the 2024-25 season which was frustrating for everyone involved.  Harry Derham had him ready but the ground was unseasonably quick and then a dirty scope held him up just as the rain came.

On seasonal debut at Haydock in January he jumped well but jockey Paul O’Brien said he was a bit keen, suffered interference turning for home but had learned plenty.  Pleasingly the experience of his first run in handicap company wasn’t lost as Casual Observer duly won at Ffos Las just three weeks later.

Unfortunately a shoulder injury saw his season come to a premature end but the huge positive is that we start his chasing career from a workable mark of 113.

Patience was needed as we didn’t see him make a chase debut for over a year but thankfully it went very well (2nd at Bangor 25th Feb) as his jumping was first class.  Paul O’Brien was thrilled with the performance, the horse did everything right but understandably got tired after the third last fence.  In a search for ground with cut “Casual” was sent on the long journey to Hexham (25th March) for a 2m4f handicap chase.  Again he ran really well (3rd) and arguably looked the winner  everywhere until failing to quicken approaching the last fence.  Stepped up to 3m (Perth Apr 23rd) he again travelled like the winner but didn’t finish off his race strongly which was a little disappointing. The ability is there so we’ll try again.
