Runners head North of the border for the Perth Festival and Star Walking rounds off the season nicely finishing second at Chepstow – giving the syndicate a total of 160 runners, 31 winners and 66 placings.
A new member of the team is recruited – an unnamed 4 year old filly by Jack Hobbs, also GBB registered.

SEASON REVIEW
Last season was very rewarding for our owners and for everyone working at Noel Fehily Racing with 31 winners being our best ever year. Thank you so much for your invaluable support.
There will always be a bump in the road, a disappointing day can happen but in the main we were really pleased as the horses ran well and consistently.
There have been some great days at the track to put in the 2025-26 highlight reel.
Jasmine Bliss won a Listed Chase, Hurricane Pat took apart a classy Listed Race at Sandown, Major Fortune won his 8th race which broke Love Envoi’s record, gained our first flat winner, Millstatt Abbey gained ‘black type’, we sent a large team to the Cheltenham Festival which fulfilled dreams, Baron Noir was placed in two Grade 1’s and we landed two massive £100,000 handicaps at the Aintree Festival with Ryan’s Rocket and Mr Hope Street to name but a few.
Time moves fast as the 2026-27 season starts for us today. We look well prepared with our team featuring some lovely young horses to run in bumpers and novice hurdles. We have a good team of novice chasers which will feature horses such as Baron Noir and Hurricane Pat, whilst we have some handicappers who can do some damage. A few of the 2025-26 team will be moved on but we’ll be buying new stock throughout the coming months at all the major sales.
It should be another very exciting season – we’re very grateful you’ll be joining us on the ride. Let’s have some fun and plenty of winners and enjoy the good & bad days together.

KAMSINAS
Our week started last Sunday at Plumpton when KAMSINAS finished 3rd in the 3m1f Sussex Stayers Hurdle (£65k) under regular partner Johnny Burke.
We’ve said many times in the past that he’s in the grip of the handicapper but Kamsinas always gives it his all. Johnny said Kamsinas was a little careful over the first couple after his fall the time before but gained confidence and jumped really well thereafter. He was outpaced after three out but when turning for home he found a bit of room and ran on in typically game style. There is no doubt he is 100% a terrier and yet again picked up valuable prize money for his owners. In a 21 run career he’s won just a few pounds short of £100,000.

My day at Plumpton started painfully when owner Denise Stratford welcomed me with a massive playful slap on the bum. Poor Denise was unaware I’d broken my L4 vertebrae just six days prior and was still extremely sore. However she soon learned I also suffer from Tourettes.

FREDDIE FLETCHER
Many of you will have met Freddie at Hagg Hill as he works at the yard for Noel and Tash. He’s a really good rider who is learning daily from the ‘master’ and is trusted to ride some of the more difficult horses at home.
Easter Monday April 6th it was a red letter day as Freddie rode his first point winner on just his 3rd ride. He rode his own horse Farnoge to win at his local Lockinge point to point from ‘Odds On’ shot Bass Rock ridden by the highly touted Lucas Murphy.
Young Lucas is currently a long way clear in the National Novice Riders Championship and has recently broken his duck under rules. So that is some scalp to take in a two horse match race. Freddie’s front running tactics, hogging the inside rail and keeping a bit up his sleeve worked a treat.
When Freddie was just 8 he regularly visited my house for a lesson on the equicizer and now eight years later he’s riding winners. Hopefully he’ll continue to progress and you’ll see him under rules next season.

NICK SCHOLFIELD YARD VISIT
On Wednesday morning Noel and I were delighted to host Rock Sensation’s owners at Nick’s yard which is only a hundred yards from my home in Lambourn.
Nick was a very classy rider who rode nearly 700 winners in a long career but he ‘called time’ after riding Monbeg Genius in the 2025 Aintree National. He’s made the transition to training look easy having already won a Listed Mares race and a £100,000 Handicap Hurdle and 20 winners in total to boot.
After showing good bumper form Rock Sensation lost her way over hurdles, she also lost condition so after some ‘Fehily TLC’ at Hagg Hill we felt a change of scenery was necessary.
It was a gorgeous spring morning with the sun shining and despite living in Lambourn you forget how beautiful a place it is. The Rock looked in good nic on the gallops and on Tuesday did a nice piece of work up the back of the hill. Jumping she can be a bit careful so Nick has been doing plenty with her. The plan all being well is to have her out in early may where we have quite a few options for her and ground will determine where she will run. All in all a lovely morning.

ADONEDEAL
He took the long trek to Perth on Thursday to contest a 0-120 2m Handicap Hurdle under James Bowen.
He’s had a super first season under Olly Murphy’s guidance winning his maiden, a novice and then taking his owners to a Grade Two at Cheltenham.
However we have to teach him to settle as he’s very generous in attitude, a little too keen to give you his all and isn’t as quick as he thinks he is in reality.
James tried to switched him off in rear, Adonedeal jumped really well but became detached in a fast run race. Therefore James felt it best to pull up approaching the last. The handicapper should give us a few pounds back which will help next season.
A ‘chasing type’ who jumps well Adonedeal is the type of horse to run up a sequence when fresh early in next season. There is plenty left in the tank for the future.

CLAIM DU BRIZAIS
I travelled to Warwick in a positive frame of mind as the ground was ideal, Claim Du Brizais had good course form and she has a nice mark.
Unfortunately the race didn’t go to plan as despite jumping well she could only finish fourth. Harry Skelton said the race didn’t work out smoothly.
A good jump turning away from the stands on the last circuit saw her land just behind the leader but Harry didn’t want to be there. Ideally she needs plenty of targets to aim at so he had to stop her momentum at a crucial part of the race.
Her one error four out came at the wrong time and her wind was put under pressure turning for home. It was a disappointing day where everything went wrong for her.
We’ll give her one more run on the 17th May at Stratford before she heads to the Doncaster Sale a week later.

JACK HOBBS 4-Y-O FILLY FOR SALE
We have a very interesting new addition to the team for sale … she is an unnamed 4yr Old Jack Hobbs who is fully GBB registered and in pre-training with Nick Scholfield.
She was broken in by Noel before Christmas and then sent to Nick in Lambourn a month ago.
As we did with another unraced purchase Ace Of Spades …she’ll learn the routine with Nick, do some half speed canters and then return back to Hagg Hill for the summer. This will set her up perfectly for entering full training next season where she will start off in a bumper.
The benefit of having full GBB registration are the generous bonuses for winning a race. It’s 10k for a bumper, £20k hurdling and £30k for a chase up to a maximum of £100k. We feel she is a lovely young lady who will win races and pick up some bonuses along the way.

CASUAL OBSERVER
Harry Derham took him to Perth in search of a three mile chase and some cut in the ground. It was predominantly Soft ground when declared but had dried back 48hrs later which wasn’t ideal. However it was very safe and with a lovely cover of grass.
Toby McCain Mitchell gave him a nice ride travelling and jumping well just behind the leaders but unfortunately Casual Observer’s run petered out after the third last. He finished fifth which was disappointing.
It was a mirror image of Hexham (2m4f) where he again looked the best horse in the race only to finish weakly for no apparent reason in the last few furlongs.
We’ve not had a smooth passage with him this season due to various niggles which has been very frustrating. Unfortunately given the drying forecast we’ll be hard pushed to get another run into him before the Doncaster May Sales.

STAR WALKING
Our final runner of the 25/26 season was Star Walking at Chepstow. She had a lovely start to the year with a good 2nd at Ascot following by a career best run and win at Kempton at Christmas time in a 30K race.
The aim then was to give her a break with an and have a good go at a listed race at Kelso. Unfortunately she never turned up on the day before it the long travelling or something else. Something we will never know. So we kept her local at Chepstow for her final run of the season.
In the race she had a massive weight but travelled ok and looked to be coming to win her race 2 out and as she led to the final hurdle she had a right aul look at it and gave away some costly momentum and went down by 1/2 a length in the end.
Off the back on her last run and with the weight all in all it was another very good run. She is a filly would love to keep for another season so we will see what all the owners want to do moving forwards.
STAR WALKING's owners at Chepstow
Next week…
A week I love and always look forward too – the Punchestown Festival. It’s a great time to unwind after a long UK season, spend some time with our travelling party of 50 owners and have plenty of craic.
Tuesday – unusually we have none of our established team running at the Festival so we’ve taken the opportunity to lease GRAGEEN & FOUND A STAR in the ‘Kildare Cross Country Race”. This will get everyone in the Parade Ring which is always something special at a major Festival. Hopefully will be as enjoyable an occasion as the first time we leased a horse in the Cross Country.
On that day jockey Harley Dunne finished a well beaten 4th at 250/1 but was under strict orders to “give it large” if he got a placing which he delivered in fine style via a Dettori Flying Dismount. It was a bit excessive for finishing 4th but this unexpected treat had everyone in stitches and got more of a cheers than the Winner.
Wednesday – Noel and I won’t be racing as we’ll be busy inspecting each horse entered into the Goffs Punchestown Sale the next day whilst owners head racing for the day.
However it could be a special night at dinner as we have an “Ask Me Anything” lined up. The panel includes Nico De Boinville, Johnny Burke, Noel Fehily and myself so the content could be explosive. Remember – what’s said in the room stays in the room !!!!
Thursday – the Goffs Sale is one of the best Noel and I attend annually. In 2025 we bought five horses who have each done well so we’ll be trying hard to replicate that success in 2026. The evening will be spent relaxing in Naas with some of our tour party before we fly home on Friday.
It’s a great week which allows Noel and I to spend some quality time socialising with our loyal owners. If you’re not there in 2026 make sure you come in 2027.
