MOVIDDY 2ND AT WINCANTON
Our first runner of the week was Moviddy who lined up at Wincanton in a 3m Mares Handicap Chase ridden by regular jockey Jack Hogan. We hoped lightning would strike twice having won this race in 2025 but despite her best efforts she found one too good this time around.
Jack said he couldn’t get into a proper rhythm early on the first circuit but from halfway Moviddy jumped really well and stayed galloping all the way to the line. The eventual easy winner Taxus Baccata was very well handicapped on the day having been rejuvenated by a mid season wind operation.
Moviddy’s form is admirably consistent. We’ll try hard to find her a winning opportunity in April.

UDA MAN DAN & MR HOPE STREET – CHADDESLEY CORBETT
On Tuesday, Uda Man Dan and Mr Hope Street headed to ‘Chaddesley Corbett Point to Point Track Gallops Morning’. They were accompanied by a group of horses from Dan’s yard, with the aim of giving them a valuable ‘away day’ experience.
Both horses travelled well, performed competitively and thoroughly enjoyed the experience on some good ground – Dan was really happy with both horses.

A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY, NOT TO BE MISSED!
A date for everyone’s diary and a date not to be missed is the Lambourn Open Day which takes place on Friday 3rd April – Good Friday. Myself and my family will be attending.
This is an incredible opportunity for you to visit all of the Trainer’s yards and meet the incredible horses, staff and jockeys in the Lambourn Valley.
There will be some great festivities going on in the afternoon, including the Shetland Pony Grand National, a parade of equine heroes, celebrity showjumping, derby hoppers, a dog show and much more!
Yards open from 09.00am until 1.00pm.
If anyone is at a loose end, come down and bring your family, it would be great to catch up with as many of you as we can.
CASUAL OBSERVER AT HEXHAM
On Wednesday Casual Observer took the long journey to Hexham to contest a 2m4f (0-120) Handicap Chase with Paul O’Brien in the saddle. He loves plenty of cut so the prospect of soft ground appealed and also gave confidence to trainer Harry Derham.
Throughout the race Casual Observer looked to be cantering all over his rivals but couldn’t quicken at the business end eventually finishing third. Paul felt he was always in his comfort zone but from the uphill climb approaching the last fence his mount proved to be ‘one paced’. Paul’s advice was to step up to three miles as there would be improvement to come at that trip. Given his lack of chasing experience it was encouraging to see Casual Observer jump so well as bar one small error at halfway he was foot perfect.
Despite the distance from base it was lovely to see a group of ten make the trip to Northumberland. The track offer great hospitality and the view from the enclosures is one of the very best in the country. Hexham is a gem of a track to visit on a pleasant day.

CLAIM DU BRIZAIS – A RESPECTABLE THIRD AT WARWICK
Our last runner of the week was Claim Du Brizais hailing from the Dan & Harry Skelton team. Considering it was only her second chase start we came away from Warwick thrilled with how she jumped in a competitive looking race. She travelled nicely in mid division and then ‘stayed on’ gamely from two out finishing in a very respectable third place.
Harry was happy with the run, recommended an intermediate 2m4f trip would suit and felt the race experience would not be lost on her looking forward to the spring. Reasons to be cheerful, hopefully she’ll get her head in front before the end of the season.

Farewell to amelia
On Friday, we said goodbye to Amelia, who has been a valued member of our team for the past eight months – her contract with the syndicate has now come to an end.
During her time with us, Amelia made significant contributions to the Gallops Mornings, the owners’ videos and the social media aspects of the business; we truly appreciate all her hard work and dedication.
We wish Amelia every success in her future endeavours and are grateful for everything she brought to the team.
